A positive theme for the 2013 Hart Brown Economic Forum

Surrey Law firm Hart Brown is pleased to announce that the 9th Hart Brown Annual Economic Forum will be held on Thursday 20th June 2012 at the University of Surrey's School of Management. The theme for this year's event will be whether the economy is at its turning point and that recovery is on the horizon
In past years the Forum has been a huge success with over 400 delegates registered, with the opportunity to listen to and question leading business and economic figures on a wide range of topics.
Many economists believe that Britain is through the worst of the economic storm with the beginnings of a slow but steady recovery likely this year, whilst others believe that growth is not encouraging and sustainability cannot be achieved. But despite the fragile economic recovery, the stock markets appear to be strengthening, giving confidence to economists and businessmen to beg the question, has recovery started.
However, recovery has been slow, and the British obsession with the weather has resulted in much finger wagging at one of the worst winters on record as another reason for stalling recovery, with weak UK exports exacerbating the situation. It could well be down to the enterprise and entrepreneurship of small and medium-sized firms to kick-start the much needed growth.
These are some of the questions that will be raised and discussed by the speakers at this year's Forum, who will include Peter Molyneux, founder Lionhead Studios and more recently 22Cans; Jeremy Batstone-Carr, Chief Economist at Charles Stanley; and Rob Lucy, Managing Director at Claremont Prime

Jeremy Batstone-Carr, Chief Economist, Charles Stanley
Jeremy is Chief Economist & Strategist at Charles Stanley. He is responsible for the oversight of global asset allocation and investment strategy. Widely quoted in the press and broadcast media Jeremy has established a reputation for thought-provoking research which seeks to explain prevailing investing conditions.
Peter Molyneux, Founder, 22Cans
Peter is one of the best-known names in the international world of computer games. He co-founded Bullfrog Productions in 1987 and created a new genre of computer games, "the god game". Bullfrog was sold in 1994 to Electronic Arts and Peter became Vice-President. He left in 1997 to form a new games development company Lionhead Studios. In April 2006 Lionhead Studios was sold to Microsoft Corp and Peter was appointed as Creative Director of MGS Europe in 2009. In March 2012 he started a new company called 22cans.
Rob Lucy, Managing Director, Claremont Prime
Following his military career, Rob co-founded property investment and development company, Parc Investments in 2000. Starting with residential property renovations and conversions in London, Parc quickly expanded out to international property projects. By 2007, Parc had offices in 3 countries and projects totalling over £200M. In 2009, based on the experience of Parc, Rob co-founded Claremont Prime, a specialist property investment company focussed only on prime territories and projects.
