Jelly lands in Woking
Woking Jelly will host its first co‐working event on Monday 7 October from 10am to 4pm at
the Connect to Innovation (C2I) Incubation Centre with the support of Start Up Woking and
Woking Borough Council.
The Jelly co‐working concept was conceived in in 2006 by two flat mates who became
convinced of the benefits of co‐working after inviting friends around to their New York Cityflat for regular co
‐working events. The name Jelly was reportedly chosen because the pairhappened to be eating jelly beans at the time. Since its inception, the Jelly co‐working
phenomenon has swept across the globe igniting innovation and collaboration wherever it
goes.
Jelly co‐working encourages freelancers, home‐workers, entrepreneurs and small businessowners to get together once a month to share a workspace. Woking Jelly Co‐ordinator, Lisa
LaRue of Career Central C.I.C. says: “The benefits are enormous and include collaboration,
information sharing and reducing feelings of isolation since those who work alone can
engage in ‘water cooler’ conversations they might otherwise miss out on.”
It’s free to attend a Jelly co‐working event but attendees do need to register to participate
and bring along their own laptop, tablet or other work. Participants are provided a desk,
access to power for their laptop and free WiFi. Arcom IT is service provider to the C2I
Incubator and will be providing a wireless working environment for Woking Jelly.
