Advanced Warning! A320 Guildford Road closure in February half term

Major road works planned for A320 Guildford Road from 15th- 23rd February 2014 (February half term)

Significant traffic impact with delays should be planned for.

A signed diversion route will be in place along Woodham Lane, New Haw Road, Brighton Road, High Street, Chertsey Road, St Peters Way, and Guildford Road.

The closure will be invoked in the early hours of Saturday the 15th of February through to Sunday the 23rd of February.

Advance warning signs will be erected at suitable locations and a letter drop to local residents has been carried out. Supplies of clean safe tap water to its customers now and in the future.

To alleviate flooding issues in the area of the two fuel stations, Surrey County Council need to install a new drainage system between the Otter roundabout and Christ Church at the crest of the hill to the south.

Following considerable burst history, Affinity Water require to carry out works to assess the condition of their mains supply pipe work at various locations along the A320 between McLarens Roundabout and Chertsey. These works require excavations of a significant size to enable radar assessment of pipe condition. To enable the drainage works to be undertaken it will be necessary to close this road.

It is proposed to carry out these works over the next school half term period when traffic flows are generally lighter.

Surrey County Council have coordinated a significant amount of the investigatory works by Affinity Water to take place during the road closure period.

The results of the investigation works by Affinity Water will determine the level of any future works requirement which may range from none to complete replacement of the mains water pipe between Chertsey and Woking. The expectancy is that the work required will be localised replacement during 2014/15The drainage works are in the vicinity of the two fuel stations. There will be a hard closure at this point. The Affinity Water works during the closure will be between the Otter roundabout and McLarens roundabout.

Access will be permitted from the McLaren (Woking) end of the closure

Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times through the site. Access to properties, business and the church will also be maintained but may need to be via an alternative route to that usually used.
