Leading Employee Benefits specialist takes residency in Woking
Woking has recorded another success in its continued efforts to attract new business to the town.
Mercer, one of the world's largest human resources and employee benefit consultancies, employing over 2,500 people in 13 locations across the UK, recently opened its new Woking office, One Christchurch Way. Mercer's Woking office specialises in advising companies on all aspects of their retirement and health & benefits plans, talent management, as well as pension investment strategy and implementation, employing 148 staff with scope to increase to 200 employees.
Jamie Willis, Partner based in Mercer's new Woking office, said: "We are very excited to be in Woking and to be part of an up and coming business centre. With excellent connections to London and the rest of the south east we felt it would be the ideal base for servicing our 400 plus existing clients in the region. The office is newly refurbished to a high standard and is ideally located in the centre of town, close to the train station.
"Our new office brings together teams specialising in retirement, investments, health & benefits and talent management issues for clients. We look forward to further growing our client base here and to be part of a thriving business community."
Cllr Gary Elson, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: `'This is further confirmation that business leaders increasingly know Woking as a great place from which to access London and the south east market, and a place where business is welcomed and supported.
"It is pleasing to see companies recognise the many benefits Woking offers and we have recently witnessed significant growth in uptake in our office market, some of the strongest growth in the south east, and I hope other developers and businesses follow suit. We would like to welcome Mercer to Woking and wish them every success.''
Cllr John Kingsbury, Leader of Woking Borough Council, added: "I am delighted to welcome such a prestigious company to Woking, highlighting that industry leaders consider Woking a good place to do business and, by attracting such businesses, we are helping support local jobs and promote a vibrant local economy that benefits the wider community."
Mercer's relocation to Woking follows a spate of recent company locations or expansions in Woking, the most high-profile among them WWF-UK's Living Planet Centre (300 staff) and the huge expansion of Mustang Engineering now employing over 600 people from its Woking operation serving the oil and gas sector.
