Woking Works Best in Partnership

At its stand at the Woking Means Business exhibition today (Wednesday 5 October), Woking Works formally launched its new partnership between Woking Borough Council and five local business leaders to engage with and support companies in Woking.

Driven by Woking’s Economic Development Strategy, Woking Works was formed to support, increase and retain business in Woking. By forming a partnership between Woking Borough Council and local businesses – Arcom IT, Barlow Robbins, Hamlyns, NatWest and Something Big – Woking Works can offer solutions to suit the needs of diverse organisations at all stages of their lifecycle.

Woking Works engages with businesses through its website, partner events, specialist clinics, Council-led business breakfasts and networking, regional business awards, and social media. Businesses can also sign up to the free e-newsletter from the partnership, which offers news and advice from industry leaders, plus information on regeneration, funding, training, networking and conferencing, office, retail and industrial property, and starting new business.

Leader of Woking Borough Council, Councillor John Kingsbury, who announced the launch of the partnership at the Working for Woking annual business breakfast today, said: “As one of the South East’s premier business locations, with ambitious plans for economic growth, Woking is already the location of choice for a wide range of professionals, including our new Woking Works partners. Through its partnership with these experts in their field, Woking Works can offer advice, knowledge and expertise to new and existing organisations in the Borough, as well as those looking to relocate to one of most dynamic areas of the South East.”

Something Big – an award-winning creative communications agency, founded in 1998 by Nick Butcher and Sally Pritchett – is also one of the founding members of the Woking Works partnership. They now employ over 50 staff and work with businesses large and small. Sally said: “We’re delighted to play an active role in the Woking business community. Having found our first customers, suppliers and staff here in Woking, it’s great to be able to help other businesses launch, grow and thrive.”

During November, Woking Works will be bringing the Natwest Business Bus to Jubilee Square in Woking Town Centre on 15 November, and sponsoring the Innovation Award at the SME Surrey Business Awards on 30 November.
