Woking Digital Connects with SDA18 as Associate Sponsor
Woking Digital – a project group set-up to promote internet connectivity across the borough – has signed up as Associate Sponsor of the Surrey Digital Awards.
The move confirms Woking Borough Council’s support for the SDAs, for a second year running.
The team working together to deliver Woking Digital will attend SDA18 at HG Wells Conference & Events Centre, Woking, on March 15th and present the Best Blog award.
Woking Digital has one aim – to remove barriers to internet connectivity.
Working with its managing partner, Arcom IT, Woking Digital provides internet that enables economic growth, promotes public services and increases social cohesion and digital inclusion.
Speaking about backing the SDAs for a second year. Leader of Woking Council, Councillor David Bittleston, said: “Woking Borough Council is Associate Sponsor of the Surrey Digital Awards because the benefits of fast and reliable internet connectivity are clear – it increases productivity and innovation, and allows information to be shared without barriers.
“The Council’s Woking Digital strategy is investing in data centres, fast-fibre cabling infrastructure, and Wi-Fi throughout the town centre, benefitting businesses and consumers alike and transforming Woking into a town truly fit for the 21st century.
“We are also sponsoring the Best Blog Award because this kind of media helps to inform and educate the wider community, promoting public services and increasing social cohesion and digital inclusion.
“By addressing the barriers of service availability and affordability, Woking Digital is unlocking the digital potential of Woking.”
