Woking Best Bar None returns to find the best licensed premises
Calling all pubs, bars and restaurants, the Woking Best Bar None (BBN) Awards are back! Licenced premises across the Borough are being encouraged to apply to the accreditation scheme and work towards being recognised as Woking’s best.
Woking Best Bar None aims to increase trade for businesses, through the promotion of best practice and enjoyable, safe atmospheres, whilst preventing and reducing alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour.
Formally launched on Tuesday 8 May 2018 at Asahi UK Ltd’s Woking head office, Woking Best Bar None recognises those pubs, bars and restaurants that go above and beyond to achieve the best for their customers and local area. The scheme is led by Woking Borough Council and supported by the locally based, international brewer, Asahi UK Ltd and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey.
Cllr Debbie Harlow, Chair of Woking Borough Council’s Licensing Comittee, said: “I would encourage all local pubs, bars and restaurants to join Woking Best Bar None. It’s an opportunity for them to be recognised for their hard work, to have an insight into how they can improve their standards and a chance at being crowned Woking’s best.
As well as achieving bronze, silver or gold accreditation, premises could win in the following categories:
- Overall Best Bar None Award
- Woking News & Mail’s Public Choice Award
- Best Town Centre Pub
- Best Local Pub
- Best Bar
- Best Dining Experience
- Asahi Social Responsibility Award.
Licensed premises can sign up to the scheme at www.wokingbbn.co.uk Once registered, they will be visited by trained assessors. Those establishments meeting the Best Bar None criteria will receive accreditation, allowing their customers to recognise their achievement via a gold, silver or bronze window sticker. Those exceeding the Best Bar None gold accreditation criteria, also stand a chance of being crowned a winner at an awards event later in the year, as voted for by a prestigious panel of independent judges.
Later in the year, once the licensed premises have been accredited, patrons will have the opportunity to have their say and help build a premises’ reputation, by voting for their favourite pub, bar or restaurant, during a public vote to crown Woking’s best.
