Surrey Employers benefit from Transfer to Transform
Hampshire and Surrey Employers benefit from the Apprenticeship & Skills Hub’s Transfer to Transform initiative, which has now surpassed a quarter of a million pounds in pledges from large organisations across North Hampshire & Surrey.
Transfer to Transform provides the platform for large employers to reduce the wastage of their apprenticeship levy funding, whilst also redistributing this funding to small employers in order to support them with funding their own apprenticeship training. Over £2bn of apprenticeship levy funding remains unused from the last two years according to a CIPD study, and so initiatives like Transfer to Transform are instrumental in properly utilising this funding. In addition to this, small employers will benefit enormously from the funding for apprenticeships that they can use to bridge skill gaps that may have become increasingly apparent post COVID-19 lockdown.
The initiative was launched across North Hampshire & Surrey back in July 2021, and has since amassed a total (as of October 13th ) of £296,619 in total apprenticeship funds from several large North Hampshire & Surrey based employers. Some of the large employers on the list of pledgers include: Heathrow Airport, Elmbridge Borough Council, GlaxoSmithKline, Surrey County Council, Unit 4, Lenovo and Mole Valley District Council.
The large pledge total has directly resulted in 24 residents starting their journey into an apprenticeship, either increasing their skills within their current workplace, or starting as a brand-new apprentice on a new career path!
Jodi Fair, Manager of the Apprenticeship & Skills Hub said:
‘It’s been fantastic to see local, large employers getting on board with pledging their unused apprenticeship levy funding to Transfer to Transform, and then seeing the direct impact that this has on these small employers that can access the funding to train up their workforce with apprenticeships. We would urge any small employers interested in accessing free apprenticeship funding or any large employers looking to reduce wastage of their levy, to speak to us about your options!’.
If you would like to learn more about how you can get involved with Transfer to Transform as either a large, pledging organisation that would like to reduce wastage, or as a small employer seeking free funding to train apprentices, speak to a member of the Apprenticeship & Skills Hub team.
