CREST22 Business Awards - looking for a hero

CREST22 Business Awards, Surrey’s only green business awards, announced today that it is extending its deadline from 25 March to midnight on Friday 8 April.

The free-to-enter awards, are looking for green business heroes either working in or based in Surrey, which outside of London, has the country's largest economy.

CREST22 Awards play key role in Surrey County Council’s Climate Change Delivery Plan and its panel of expert judges are going to be looking at entries from five categories: Sustainability Impact, Smarter Transport, Going Circular, Efficiency Champion and Transforming Food. They will also choose from across the board to select the 2022 Sustainability Hero.

The Awards Presentation is on Thursday 19 May at the WWF Living Planet Centre in Woking and supports Headline Sponsor Surrey County Council’s Greener Future climate change delivery plan. The event will be a showcase of some of the most exciting opportunities and initiatives in action in the county.

This year’s judging panel includes Ian Christie, Senior Lecturer in the social science of sustainable development at the University of Surrey’s Centre for the Environment and Sustainability. The CES has worked in partnership with CREST Business Awards since their conception and is once again offering generous prizes to award category winners.

Alongside Ian is Lauren Wiseman, Environmental Manager, WWF-UK, which is an Associate Sponsor of the awards, Sarah Butcher, Head of Membership at Surrey Chambers of Commerce, Katie Sargent, Greener Futures Group Manager and Terry Tidbury, co-Director of CREST Business Awards as well as Managing Director of Woking News & Mail.

Joanna Yarrow, one of the UK's leading experts in sustainable living, and former Head of Global Sustainability for IKEA, once again leads an exciting panel of presenters at CREST22 Awards. They include Andrew Griffiths, Director of Community and Partnerships at Planet Mark & Chair of the Institute of Director's National Sustainability Taskforce, Cllr Marisa Heath, Cabinet Member for Environment for Surrey County Council and Ian Christie.

In addition, attendees will be able to visit guest stands at the event and network with key stakeholders such as Efficiency Champion Sponsor Nick Diprose, Founding Partner of Holdsway, who says: “Holdsway is sponsoring Crest Business Awards for the second year running to raise the profile of a positive environmental strategy. Business and organisational efficiency demand a rigorous focus on reducing waste, whether in materials, energy, human effort, investment, or time. We salute all organisations that are working hard to be more efficient.”
