Masterplan pop-up shop makes it even easier to have your say

Residents, businesses and key stakeholders keen to understand more about the Woking Town Centre Masterplan consultation, and have their say, can now visit a dedicated ‘shape your place’ pop-up shop.

Located along Mercia Walk, visitors can drop by to view an informative exhibition covering each of the ten Masterplan themes, as well as having the opportunity to talk to planning officers before submitting their views.

From Saturday 20 August 2022, the pop-up shop will be open Mondays (except bank holidays), Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays between 11am and 3pm until the end of September.

Speaking ahead of the opening, Cllr Ann-Marie Barker, Leader of Woking Borough Council, said: "This administration is committed to making the Woking Town Centre Masterplan consultation as accessible and inclusive as possible, so I am delighted that we are opening our ‘shape your place’ pop-up shop.

“Conveniently located in the heart of Woking Town Centre, the shop provides yet another way for residents, businesses and key stakeholders to find out more about the Masterplan and, most importantly, have their say.

“The comprehensive consultation gives residents the opportunity to help shape the town centre’s future. It suggests what infrastructure will be needed to deliver Woking’s continued growth, along with what retail and leisure facilities are needed, whilst preserving important environmental and heritage assets.

“I would encourage all residents, and those who have an interest in creating a modern, welcoming and vibrant town centre, to get involved and tell us their views.”

The Woking Town Centre Masterplan will establish an overarching vision for the town centre that will enable design-led, sustainable development, such as new homes that meet the needs of residents, a thriving retail and business environment, as well as strengthening Woking’s cultural and leisure offer.

It sets out detailed standards and principles that deliver a shared vision of the town centre, such as building heights and density. It will provide a long-term vision of what Woking’s skyline could look like by 2030 and beyond.
