Surrey’s green business awards rebranding signals call to action
Surrey’s only green business awards programme is stepping up its commitment to helping businesses to take action on climate change.
Together with the University of Surrey’s Institute for Sustainability it has launched the CREST Consortium, defining ways of achieving net zero through its network of like-minded businesses alongside academics and experts in environmental sustainability. Dates of forthcoming Consortium events will be announced on the CREST Business Awards website.
The launch of CREST Consortium comes alongside a rebranding of the awards in time for CREST23 which will be taking place in October 2023. The reinvigorated portfolio includes new award categories as well as new and exciting opportunities for business leaders.
CREST Business Awards has been a part of Surrey County Council Climate Crisis Delivery Plan and this year the world’s leading independent conservation organisation, the WWF, is sponsoring a new award for 2023, Restoring Nature, and will be hosting CREST23 at its Living Planet Centre in Woking. Meanwhile,
Holdsway, a Founding Sponsor of the CREST Business Awards programme is sponsoring the Sustainability Impact Award for businesses with turnovers of over £1m.
The relaunch hopes to give greater clarity on what businesses are doing in the individual CREST23 categories and each one has been designated easily identifiable logos. This year sees the introduction of Circular Efficiency, Community Impact and Restoring Nature Awards, as well as two separate levels in Sustainability Impact – one for businesses with turnovers over £1m and another for businesses with a turnover under £1m. The highly successful categories Transforming Food, Smarter Transport and the Judges’ Choice for Sustainability Hero will be reprised for the 2023 awards.
The CREST Business Awards programme, now in its third year, works in association with the University of Surrey. In addition to the prizes offered to winners by its Centre for Environment and Sustainability, the IfS will be hosting at least two of this year’s CREST Consortium events to enable members to meet and speak directly with experts in environmental sustainability and to share best practice with peers within the Consortium community.
